Heaters!! We need all hands on deck! On June 11th, 2022, The Asia Society Texas will be hosting its annual AsiaFest 2022 festival. 2022 marks the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Asia Society Texas Center. There will be representation of all Asian cultures, food, and performances throughout the day. The date happens to be close to the official Dragon Boat Day in Asia (June 3rd). To help celebrate the occasion, The Asia Society has reached out to the Houston Heat Dragon Boat Club to join in on the fun and bring the spotlight to the sport and traditions of the sport we all love!
We will bring a fully dressed dragon boat to be displayed front and center at the Asia Society Texas Center. We will have tents set up, banners flying, Videos to watch and erg races for the guest to try! We need volunteers throughout the day to represent and interact with the public! We will especially need help setting up the dragon boat off the trailer early in the morning, as well as reloading at the end of the event. Volunteers will be needed to help set up (and break down) the tents and erg demos. Wear your Houston Heat team shirts with pride! Share your experiences with all who ask!
We will be asking Pink Phurree and Island Warriors to assist and represent as well. Together, we have built a strong paddling community together and we want to show the public how much fun we have!
The event is from 11 am to 5 pm. Set up time will be approximately 10 am. More details about the setup will be announced. Please sign up and give us an approximate time you will be there. Remember, we need extra hands during setup and break down! The more that come out, the faster this process goes!
