Welcome to the 2023 Houston Heat Dragon Boat Season!!! Everyone is welcome to join us on Saturday, Feb 18th as we officially start our season. If you have never dragon boated before, now is the perfect time to give it a try. We will have paddles and PFDs for y’all, so just come and have fun.
Registration is 8-8:30 am, followed by a team warm-up and stretch. The coaches will provide instruction on proper technique, after which you’ll be able to try it out on the boat during practice with additional instruction from a coach. After practice, there will be a short information session regarding Houston Heat, membership, practices, and races. Yes, you will get wet during practice, so we recommend that you bring a towel and a change of clothing. Restrooms are available at the park to change.
After the Kick-Off, we welcome everyone to join us for lunch at TBD (location will be announced at the kickoff). Please note that lunch is not covered by HH.
We want to continue to ensure we follow all safety measures in accordance with the club, CDC, and USDBF COVID-19 guidelines. Please see the following:
- Arrive on time. Be at the boat launch site at the designated start time.
- If any of the following applies, please contact us to have your name withdrawn:
- If you are sick, not feeling well, have a fever, sore throat, flu-like symptoms, etc., please stay home.
- If you were in contact with someone with COVID within 2 weeks before the practice date, please stay home.
- If your schedule changes and you are no longer able to attend.

8:00 – 8:30 Registration
8:30 – 9:15 Stretching, basic instructions, get on the boat
9:15 – 10:45 Practice
10:45 – 11:45 Stretch, Q&A session on Houston Heat membership, practices, etc.

ALL PADDLERS: As a team sport, all paddlers are expected to pitch in and help with unloading and loading the boats when the boat arrives. If you are not able to assist with lifting the boats, please help with the equipment (paddles and PFDs). Please show your team spirit and get involved.
