We’re bringing in elite paddlers and coaches from the U.S. National Dragon Boat Team to help take Texas dragon boating to the next level.

Whether you’re new to the sport or a seasoned paddler aiming for high performance, this clinic is designed to elevate your skills, fitness, and understanding of what it takes to compete at the next level — all while having a blast on the water.

    • 2 training sessions per day (Thursday – Saturday)

Coaches Bio:

Tek Li – Tek Li is an elementary school teacher and renowned dragon boat coach with nearly 20 years of paddling experience. A three-time Team USA Dragon Boat member (2011, 2015, 2025) and 2014 Club Crew World Championship competitor, he balances coaching elite paddlers worldwide while raising three young children.

 

 


Jackson Lau – Jackson has been the head coach for Houston Heat since 2017 and he is also the co-founder of Lone Star Dragons (LSD) since 2022.  In 2025, he was one of the assistant coaches for the USDBF Team USA U16, U18, and also the Senior A Open & Mixed Division.  His knowledge and passion in paddling has elevated the sport of dragon boat in the Texas area.  When he is not coaching, you can find him paddling/training somewhere on a body of water.

 

 

Kitt Noythanongsay – Since 2012, Kitt has been the Head Coach of Suncoast Asian Cultural Association, “SACA”, a non-profit 501c3 organization and Co-Head Coach for Tampa River Dragon Boat since 2020, both based in Tampa, Florida.

He was part of the coaching staff for the USDBF Team USA Senior A OPEN, Mixed, Women and Senior B Women for the 2021 and 2023 cycles. In 2025 cycle, he is the Head coach for USDBF Team USA Senior A OPEN & Mixed. Kitt truly enjoys coaching paddlers new to the sport and paddlers he has just met through their first or most important dragon boat race.
 

 
Jeffrey Wong – Jeffrey’s paddling career began in 2005. Since then, he has competed in three IDBF Dragon Boat World Championships as an athlete with Team USA and one ICF World Championship. As a coach, he led his former club team to two Club Crew World Championship berths, and most recently served as an assistant coach at the IDBF World Championships, where the Senior A Open and Mixed crews brought home 10 medals—including four golds.

Off the water, Jeff can be found working on his car, attending design conferences, or researching new ways to make his paddlers faster.

The hotel is just next to the launch location of the lake, you will be able to just walk down to the hotel and get on the boat.  There are also a big shopping center within walking distance with restaurants and a Whole Foods Market.

Airports & Distance to Courtyard Houston Sugar Land

Courtyard Houston Sugar Land/Lake Pointe, is located in Sugar Land. If you’re flying into Houston, here are two main airport options:

  • George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) is about 41 miles from Sugar Land.
  • William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) is about 27 miles from Sugar Land.

Camp will conclude on Sunday around 11am. If you plan to fly out on Sunday, please book your flight after 3pm to ensure you have enough time to get to the airport and board your flight.


Fee:
Early bird special — $250 if paid before December 31, 2025.
After that date, the fee will be $325.
There will be no discounts for partial attendance.
