Houston Heat booth at the Japan Festival (Sat, May 6 and Sun, May 7)
Greetings Heaters and Friends!
Please join Houston Heat at the Japan Festival Houston (Saturday, May 6th and Sunday, May 7th). HH will be hosting a couple of booths at the event to promote the sport of Dragon Boating, the Battle on the Bay event, and our Houston Heat Dragon Boat Club. Please join us and represent HH (or come as a spectator). We would love to see everyone there.
Our booths will have two ergometer machines (ERG) with dragon boat paddling adapters. These ERG machines will allow two paddlers to race against each other for the best time or bragging rights with friends. The set up will be a 200m course and spectators can either race against each other or challenge one of the HH members/volunteers.
Spectator: This free event is open to all. Please come out anytime throughout the day to check out all of the booths, learn about the rich cultural heritage of Japan with traditional and contemporary performances of Japanese music, dance and martial arts, Japanese/Japanese-inspired food, and more. Do not forget to come by the HH booths. AND if you would like to try out the ERG machine, please let any of the members in the booths know. No dragon boating experience required. Sign up below and select the Spectator option to let us know you may swing by the booth.
Houston Heat Volunteer: We are looking for HH volunteers (two-hour increments) throughout the day to help out on this event. When signing on, select the HH Volunteer option to be a HH representative; and then select the time slot that will work best for you. We will update the list once time slots are confirmed. Requirements to volunteer as a HH Rep in the booth:
♦ Must be a current 2017 HH member
♦ Must remain in the booth for the 2-hour duration based on the schedule confirmed and outlined below.
♦ Please wear your HH jersey to represent Houston Heat.
♦ You may be asked to participate in the ERG challenge with fellow paddlers or eager spectators; therefore, please dress accordingly (be ready to paddle).
