Event: MTL Challenge and Chinese Cultural Festival
Location: Montreal, Parc Jean Drapeau
Dates: Friday, July 6 – Sunday, July 8, 2018
Les Chaleurs Houston will be returning to La Belle Province. After making its debut in Montreal in 2011, Houston Heat Dragon Boat Club is pleased to be going back to Montreal for the 2018 MTL Dragon Boat Challenge and Chinese Cultural Festival. They are planning for three days of racing with several divisions, and 10 and 20 person boat races. These races will run from Friday, July 6th through to July 8th.
Friday will be for mixed 20 person boats at the 200 m race distance but these are only optional so if you can only join for Saturday and Sunday we will be more than happy to have you. The race formats for the weekend are 500 m on Saturday and 1000 m race on Sunday.
Montreal is a beautiful and sophisticated city, and this is world class event that can draw as many as 150 teams from the East Coast of Canada and the USA. As this weekend falls close to the 4th of July holiday you might consider taking the time to make it a long weekend in Canada. The flights take about 4.5 hours from Houston. As you plan your Dragon Boat season consider making Montreal 2018 a priority and sign-up soon!
The event fee for this event is $75 for current HH members.
Event Coach: David Lim

NOTE: the training schedule for racing events is somewhat intense, with up to 2 water practices on weekends and potentially one during the week. Keep this in mind as the Coaches may review practice attendance when finalizing the race roster.
